Sustainability Policy

Beech House Sustainability Policy

Beech House Veterinary Centre recognises that our business and operations create a negative impact on the environment, in terms of use of raw materials, and waste generation and disposal, for example. We are aware that there is a link between the health of animals, humans and the planet. We are committed to help protect the safety, health and environment of employees, clients, patients, along with the people and animals of the communities in which we all work and live.

We have identified key areas that contribute to our environmental and carbon footprint:

  • Consumption of electricity, gas, water and other fuels.
  • Use of inhalant anaesthetic gases
  • Waste production and disposal
  • Paper usages
  • Procurement and supplies

Beech House Veterinary Centre is committed to reducing these areas and other impacts, alongside the continual improvement of our environmental performance.

It is the responsibility of all employees, visitors and contractors to fully support this policy through active participation and co-operation.

Our dedication to improving the environment, can be demonstrated in our established objectives and goals:

  • Reducing our waste, reuse and recycle materials as much as possible
  • Lower our paper usage
  • Decrease of use of inhalant anaesthetic gases
  • Reducing our consumption of energy and raw materials
  • Working with our suppliers to ensure they acknowledge and decrease the environmental impacts of their products and transportation.

We will continue to strive to improve our environmental impact through annual reviews and updates, including any changes in legislation, our organisation and other factors.

Suzie Blunt, the Clinical Director, has the designated responsibility for the day-to-day implementation of this policy.

We will share this policy with our employees and make sure they are provided with regular updates in order to increase awareness of environmental matters. This policy will be openly available to all members of the public via our website.

This plan will be followed as part of Beech House Vets routine practices. The plan will be reviewed at least annually and as part of new employee training.

I have visited on 2 occasions recently with our dog and been seen by Pedro. He is great with her. He listens, and takes time to explain what is likely going on. Discusses treatments or options and probable outcomes. We love his approach to our dog’s care.

Had to visit vets while house sitting. Julia was really efficient in arranging for doggos records being sent over from our local vet. Was seen same afternoon by the lovely vet and treatment started straight away. Very impressed.

Delighted to find a good reasonably priced vet who understands about anxious fur baby mummy’s. They are all excellent at what they do with clearly explained fees. I highly recommend them.

We’ve been using Beech House at Hersham with our greyhound for over 4 years now and they’ve always been great, whether for routine treatment, minor illness or (none case) a serious injury. I’d recommend them to any dog owner.

Pedro was fantastic with my slightly nervous German shepherd who had a bad experience with his last vets. He was seen promptly and made sure my boy was comfortable before giving him his vacation.

Just had my first appointment here. They were very friendly and accommodating (managing to squeeze in an appointment for me after I went to the wrong branch), got my cat’s vaccinations up to date and gave me lots of helpful information. A happy new customer!

Best vet surgery. Everyone there is friendly, kind and helpful. Pedro is the best vet we ever had. The cats actually trust him and like him which no easy feat for a vet.
